It’s the little things that end up saying a lot about someones character.  We are still getting a happy-mushroom-girlsense of the city, but our first impressions are that we love it.  One of the best things about walking around Taipei is there is no end to little quirks to enjoy.  Take this little happy mushroom girl here for example. This lovely little lady was sitting out in front of a local restaurant showing off a sample of the delicious dishes offered inside.  It’s hard not to look like a tourist when you are continuously taking snapshots of everything you see just because everything seems unique, and that people have gone the extra mile to add something to their surroundings.

Another thing that is great about this city is the variety and thought that have been put into public spaces.  One of the little corner parks right next to our apartment downtown blew us away on the way back from dinner.  We were just enjoying the evening, and then I metro-mosaicturned around and saw an amazing mosaic done on one of the entrances to the subway.  The amount of detail is amazing.  Turns out it is just one of the little touches to this area that make it fun for residents and visitors.  No matter where we go, we’ve seen little examples of this, and it truly makes it a joy to get out into the city.

Plus, you never know when you might find some playtime.
