An unexpected detour
Another one of the moments that convinced us of the fun of random MRT station exploring happened at this station. It was a Saturday and we were on our way to meet up with a co-worker who’d offered to take us on a waterfall hike. But while in route, we got a text saying the hike was cancelled due to rain. So sitting on the brown line with an entire Saturday in front of us… we again decided just to go ahead and hop out at a random station and explore. This Dehu station had the word “park” in the title so we figured why not?!
Turns out the park is beautiful & immediately visible and accessible from the MRT station. There’s a man made pond with a beautiful half moon bridge and a pavilion – all great for pictures!
Another Twist
But the overcast day broke into rain. So…. we turned our attention to the huge swimming pool complex we’d noticed next to the Dahu MRT alongside the park. It just so happened that since we thought we were going to a waterfall we’d brought swimsuits with us! Needless to say we decided to try it out. The pool cost about $5 USD plus another couple dollars spent on buying our very own swimming caps (mandatory at most pools we’ve been to in Taiwan). With that we were given entrance into the outdoor lap pool & kids playing area, indoor lap pool, spa pool, sauna and steam rooms! As you can see bellow… we had a blast!
This was our first time experiencing the spa jet pools of Taiwan! And as you can see, we found them thoroughly entertaining! Of course their novelty does wear off eventually but their practical purpose (providing an aqua message) is still pretty fantastic!
